This case study explores the use of transpersonal hypnotherapy to gain insight into the personal and spiritual experience of living with asthma. An important part of the study will be exploring what participants may discover about themselves and how those insights could help them navigate their experiences with asthma.
Participants will take part in six 1½-hour hypnotherapy sessions over six weeks. One session will be held each week. Before each session, participants will have time to discuss what they would like to explore. Afterward, they will have an opportunity to reflect on what they experienced and consider any insights that came through during the session.
The sessions may focus on the participant’s relationship with their body and their experience of breathing. They may explore what happens emotionally when asthma symptoms arise. Participants can also examine fears connected to breathing difficulties and look at how past experiences may influence the way they respond in the present.
Another part of the study will involve seeking insight into ways of navigating life with asthma. Participants may explore what their body needs from them. They may consider how to respond to difficult moments with greater awareness. Sessions may also provide an opportunity to explore personal beliefs or spiritual experiences that could offer a different perspective on their journey.
Participants will be encouraged to reflect on what they learn about themselves throughout the six weeks. An insight may relate to their emotions, their relationship with their body, or the way they approach challenges. They may also discover questions they want to explore further.
The purpose of this case study is to better understand the personal and spiritual experiences of individuals living with asthma. It will also explore whether transpersonal hypnotherapy can provide participants with meaningful insight that may help them understand and navigate their experiences. The study does not assume that hypnotherapy will treat or cure asthma. Each participant will have the freedom to explore their own experience and determine what insights are meaningful to them.
